Community fun day welcomes over 500 residents

Thank you to everyone who came along to July’s Kilnwood Vale Community Fun Day – we had a brilliant day and we hope you did too. The support from local businesses, charities and services was immense, not to mention the generous donations from Crest Nicholson, alongside Taylor Wimpey and Preim.

This year we welcomed 500 people to the green in the heart of Kilnwood Vale for the annual fun day – that’s 200 more than last year and a sign that our community continues to flourish.

Coconut shy to teddy tombola

Organised by Anna Grimshaw, community mobiliser at Kilnwood Vale, the event on Saturday, 21 July saw over 30 stalls from local charities and businesses – including a local cake stall, teddy tombola, raffle, a coconut shy and guess the number of balloons in a car (sponsored by Vines BMW). Hepworth Brewery, was a popular returnee from last year’s event with many enjoying a pint or two from the local brewery.

There was even a mini dog show and sunflower competition, with everyone showcasing the sunflowers they had been growing all summer – in the hope theirs would be crowned the tallest! Rocking Horse, Holmbrook Animal Rescue and Sussex Search & Rescue were nominated by you as the charities to be supported through donations at the event.

The event not only proved to be a lot of fun but also an opportunity to ask questions, neighbours to meet and enjoy the green spaces that make Kilnwood Vale a unique place to live.

One resident said: “every year the event is getting better and better”, another said: “Awesome day had by all. Well done Anna Grimshaw – another fair in the bag!”

We eagerly await the next community event for Kilnwood Vale – and hope the sun shines just like it did on the 21st!
